Labor Dept. Requests Wage Information from Mo Contractors
Survey to Establish Annual Wage Order # 18

Jefferson City, Mo-- The Missouri Department of Labor’s Division of Labor Standards (DLS) requests Missouri contractors and other interested parties to participate in this year’s Prevailing Wage survey to establish Annual Wage Order (AWO) # 18 and determine the appropriate wages for those working on the state’s public works projects.

“The law requires that wage rates paid to the men and women building our public works projects reflect the wage rates that are actually paid in each Missouri community. In order to achieve this goal, it is important for those in the construction industry or with knowledge of its pay practices, to participate so that the Department has the necessary information to determine the local wage rates for each construction occupation,” says Department Director Larry Rebman.

DLS is responsible for gathering wage information from public and private commercial construction projects statewide on an ongoing basis from contractors, labor organizations, and public entities. The wage information is used to determine wage rates for each of the 26 different occupational titles and their subgroups for every Missouri county and the city of St. Louis.

The DLS is soliciting information on wages and fringe benefits paid to employees and the number of hours worked on Building and Heavy Highway construction projects during calendar year 2010. It is requested that information be submitted by February 1, 2011, so it can be considered by the Division to determine wage rates for the AWO that will be issued and filed with the Secretary of State in March 2011.

The wage information received is compiled for each occupational title in each county. The highest number of hours reported for a particular wage rate for an occupational title in a county becomes that county’s prevailing wage rate.

To submit wage information, access the Contractor’s Report of Construction Wage Rates form by visiting www.labor.mo.gov/DLS/Forms/LS-04-AI.pdf. Instructions on how to submit wage information is located on the back of the form. Incomplete or unsigned forms will not be accepted by the DLS. Wage information can be mailed, faxed, or submitted electronically.

If you have any questions regarding the survey or any general prevailing wage questions, please do not hesitate to contact DLS at 573-751-3403 or prevailingwage@labor.mo.gov. You also can access information regarding the Prevailing Wage Law and Rules on our home page at www.labor.mo.gov/DLS.
