Rapid Response Team activated to assist displaced St. Louis workers
JEFFERSON CITY – The State Rapid Response Team has been activated to assist employees in the St. Louis-metro area who are facing displacement due to the closure of Hostess’ operations in the U.S.
Rapid Response meetings will take place for Teamsters and Machinist at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, at 4349 Woodson Road, St. Louis, and at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for St. Louis-UFCW at 300 Weidman Road, St. Louis.
Representatives from the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s Division of Workforce Development (DWD), the Department of Labor’s Division of Employment Security and the local Workforce Investment Board will meet with affected employees to assist them in filing for unemployment benefits, provide information on available area job openings and detail reemployment services available to them such as specialized workshops, skills assessments, job search/résumé assistance, access to training and more. These services are provided by trained workforce professionals with Missouri’s Career Center system and are of no cost to the workers or employers.
Any Hostess employee who is facing job loss due to the company’s closure is encouraged to file for Unemployment Insurance immediately and attend the following Rapid Response meetings:
