Some school employees (other than teachers) voted earlier this month on whether or not they wanted to be represented by the local NEA union. Jim Avery, chairman of the State Board of Mediation, conducted the election in the school located in St. Louis which allowed the employees to cast their vote. Jim talks about the election process as well as why workers seek bargaining rights. The majority of the vote for the Riverview Gardens election concluded that maintenance personnel, administrative assistants, nurses, secretaries, and Tech Assistants will now be represented by the Riverview Gardens National Education Association.
