About the Division of Labor Standards
The Division of Labor Standards currently consists of three sections: Wage and Hour, On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Service, and Mine and Cave Safety and Health.
The Division offers a free confidential, consultation service to employers to ensure they comply with federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
The Division inspects mine and cave sites, trains miners in the practice of implementing safe and healthy working habits.
Meet the Director
John E. Lindsey was born and raised in Winfield, MO, attended grade school at Immaculate Conception in Mary Knoll, MO, and graduation from Winfield R-IV High School in 1969. In 1970, Mr. Lindsey entered the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513 Apprenticeship. Mr. Lindsey began working in the St. Louis area, and remained there until 1978. Relocated to Ashland, MO, and worked 10 years at the Callaway Nuclear Facility as a Crane Operator and General Foreman. Became a Business Representative for IUOE 513 in 1991 and also served as Conductor, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary Elected Offices for the Union and then retired in September 2011. During that 20-year period, Mr. Lindsey was elected as President of the Northeast Missouri Building Trades, Secretary to Central Missouri Building Trades, and several other Trade Coalitions. In August of 2013, Mr. Lindsey was appointed to the position of Division Director for the Division of Labor Standards.
